Sophia Harrand
Postdoctoral Associate, Food Science
Sophia worked on a project funded by the Center for Produce Safety entitled: “The pathogen's physiological state has a greater effect on outcomes of challenge and validation studies than strain diversity”.
This study evaluated produce-relevant pathogens as well as surrogates, indicators, and index strains for different phenotypic characteristics (e.g., survival under selected stress conditions and in the presence of sanitizers) to help with selection of strains and growth conditions for challenge studies and evaluation of interventions.
